The Full Romance Of A Frost Morning

 Oh my goodness .........

....... the winter frost we've been experiencing these past few mornings ........

...... have almost been too wonderfully romantic for words!

It goes without saying that Darrell just had to go out to "commune" with all the wonder of nature ........

....... and embrace all its beauty ........

...... despite having to walk in a rather peculiar and somewhat "taught" fashion, as he was wearing three extra vests, a t-shirt, as well as two pair of long johns and a pair of tights under his jeans .......

....... plus two pairs of extra woolly socks under his boots!  What on earth is he like?

It was as if a magical, iridescent glitter had been sprinkled all over Evesham ...........

........ he told us when he got back, with a wistful sigh ...........

...... and faraway look.

Before putting the kettle on for a hot cup of tea with three sugars .........

...... and a hot water bottle to bung up his jumper, in an effort to get warm again, bless his aforementioned two pairs of woolly socks!

At Last , We Finally Get To Visit The New Habiba Café

The Habiba Cafe (what used to be Moo Moos) has been open for quite a while now ...…

… but trying to sort out a date to partake in all it’s pleasures has taken a little while to organise, however yesterday was finally the day ……..

… with Nigel and Darrell treating Little Miss Iris an Young Master Bertie to their tea after school.

….. with Iris opting for breakfast, her most favouritist meal of choice ……

…… with the rest of us being enthusiastically cajoled to try the Dish of the Day, to wit, stuffed cabbage leaves with potatoes, on a bed of tomato sauce……..

Let’s just say …….

……. it did NOT disappoint.

So when Iris then suggested she might still have a little room left for pudding, in the guise of a very large Oreo waffle …….

…
… it would have been rude to refuse her.

However, we were only able to help her out a bit, as we were already stuffed full to bursting!

Where she puts it all, we just don't know. In the olden days a worm might have been suggested, but in this day and age that's just a bit yuk!

The friendly atmosphere at Habiba is more like going for a meal at a friend’s house, it felt like home and we will be definitely be back, as there are an awful lot of Polish Dish of the Days we need to work our way through …….  so, 10 extremely robust Habiba noms out of 10 ………. happy and
rather full days!

Nigel's First Find Of The Year

With Iris and Bertie back at school Nigel is once more treading the school run again ……..

……. and it hasn’t taken him long to come across his very first find of 2024, to wit,  a very lovely wall unit going free.  Needless to say several pictures and text messages were exchanged between Darrell and himself …….

…… but tempting as it was, it had to be a no, despite Darrell going from room to room pondering all the possibilities and options. Sadly, it just wouldn’t fit anywhere without a serious upheaval, which to be honest, we hadn’t even thought about before this morning ……

…… not even to make bunk beds with wardrobe and storage facilities for the little fella, as he’d implored.  Hopefully, next time Nigel happens to stumble upon something, it’ll be something much smaller, but just as useful, that he can actually bring home ……. bless his little cotton socks!

Well, It Would be Rude Not To .........

Darrell nipped into town yesterday for a bit of fresh air and a quick mooch …..

…… and came back with his shopping trolley full of ……..

…….. Christmas paper, well at 75% off, it would have been rude not to take up such generous and useful offer ………..

….. especially when he said that he had been careful in only selecting papers that weren't of an obviously festive type nature, suitable for all occasions and gift wrapping opportunities in the year ahead and even, possibly, next Christmas! Bless his little cotton socks, there’s method in his madness and thus £3.20 of The Tower’s robust, household budget wisely invested!

Times, They Move On ........

Sadly, it seems that the lovely gentleman who lived in the horsebox on the road leading to our estate has finally gone, he did manage to hang on for quite a long time …….

…… after telling Darrell, last year, he’d been told to move on, as it was seen that he might attract “ne’er do wells”.

However, for all of us, Nigel in particular, his presence was a a reassuring comfort and potential refuge, especially on the dark, winter, school run returns!

There’s another van there now, but it’s completely unrelated, we think it belongs to someone in the houses a little further down the road, I wonder if they’ll be told to move on?

The road now seems a long, lonely stretch, day or night as we’d got sooooooo used to it being being there.

It did no harm and to be honest, sometimes we need people who have a  different (romantic) way of life to add a certain frisson of excitement to our normal hum drum lives!

Oh well, such is life ………

What Kind Of Weird Is This?

Welcome, welcome, welcome to our brand new home ........... it might take a little while to rejig things and get everything as it was on "the other side", but for now, the eagles have landed and are busy feathering their nest  ........... we'll just carry on exactly where we left off, all be it with a new name (and web address), in true bulldog spirit, but questions will be asked in Parliament!

Nigel was out mooching in town yesterday afternoon when he happened upon this rather peculiar playset.

……. consisting of what appeared to be blue French fries that looked more like cotton buds, a gargantuan peanut, a rather cute fish that was too big for the dish he’d been put on, a bunch of orange bananas that was smaller than the cotton bud chips, a miniscule roast chicken and a pair of what are obviously some sort of magic mushroom  ……..

…….. not to mention a tiny, two ringed hob and accompanying pot that is completely incapable of holding any of said weird food, all making any imaginative play nigh on impossible without inducing nightmares!

Needless to say, no considered £2 purchase was made, with Nigel seriously contemplating whether questions should be asked in Parliament as to the possible adverse affects such a toy could have on an impressionable young mind! What is he like?
