A Baptism Of Fire For Alice!!!!

Well, Alice has finally made it past all the whistles, bells, flutes and hoops to become a helper in school alongside with Nigel.  We and he are sooooooo unbelievably proud.

Yesterday was her very first day, it was, not reading, but sewing art book folders with Nigel and his beloved 4 Teme. Even Nigel was a little daunted on hearing of the task a week or so ago, being almost a stranger to the  art of the needle and thread, but, after a couple of lessons from Darrell, he was feeling a little more confident.

However, they still both embraced the challenge with aplomb, armed with an ample supply of needle threaders (courtesy of Darrell's sewing basket) and got well stuck in.

Nigel says the little ones were totally bedazzled by the ever fragrant Alice and hung on to her every word and she in turn was gentle, patient and above all else, encouraging .........

....... but took no messing, especially when the usage of pointy, sharp implements was involved!

It was a triumphant, all be it an exhausting one, with thirty odd, beautiful, hand sewn folders completed and justly admired.

It was a baptism of fire, when expecting her first day to involve the adventures of Biff, Chip, Kipper, Wilf and Wilma etc. and the giving out of her new, carefully chosen, reward stickers, but she said, she wouldn't have had it any other way .....

...... with her now champing at the bit for her next day in school, which really will be, she is assured, listening to little readers alongside her mentor, Nigel,
happy days.

Well done Alice, I’m sure Nigel will be very pleased to have such a lovely assistant. I’ll bet the children were thrilled too.

Oh what a lovely class for fragrant Alice to join. I'm sure some of the children would be envious of those pretty ribbons she was wearing.
