Oh dear, poor Alice had a "moment" this morning, while out mooching in town for the very first time in 2025, as she came across the saddest, most desolate looking (and possibly largest) teddy bear ever, sat sitting totally despondent in the window of our local Sue Ryder shop, only a week or so after Christmas.
Her heart just went out to him, as she knew exactly how he must be feeling, because that's exactly how she came in our lives, after Nigel spotted her on a shelf in Vale Wildlife, lost, bewildered, worried sick and very, very frightened as to what the future might hold for her.
However, in this instance, she knew she would not be able to do anything for him, no matter how much she wanted to. Kata's flat is as bijoux as The Towers and this Teddy was just toooooooooo big to discretely meld into her or our everyday life. It was ...... emotional. All she could do was nip into said shop, gently touch Teddy's arm and reassure him that she was sure everything would be alright, especially as he had been put in prime position in the window ........ then hurried, tearfully home.
Needless to say, when she got home, we all told her, again, we were sure everything would be OK. Then later, Nigel quietly snook up to town to discover that "Teddy" had disappeared and a rather large, ugly vase, complete with faded, faux flowers placed on the stool where he had been only a few of hours before. Nigel popped his head round the door and asked if the large teddy had been sold and was told yes, a young lady had fallen for his charms, just as we had Alice and he had now gone to a new home and family. Nigel's jubilant return was greeted by more emotion, but for all the right reasons ....... a very wonderful ending to what had been a sad start to the day, sooooooo, woo hoo, happy, happy New Year days!

Alice is a very caring person - as is young Nigel. I'm sure the giant bear will be loved and will have a very happy home.
