Poor Darrell, I have to admit, he's been quite the martyr to finding the end of the Sellotape roll of late, what with several birthdays and extra little presents for the end of the school year ........
....... especially when he discovered, all too late, that the tissue paper he'd bought for the task in hand has a waxing texture, so prefers to be a stranger to said tape .......
...... repealing it with frustrating and obvious joyful gusto and Darrell proclaims, "unreasonable relish"?????!!!!! What is he like?
He also muttered that the time he's wasted trying to find those elusive, flipping ends over and over, by far out weighs the time he's actually spent on the "blessed" wrapping, time he'll never get back again!
He's now thinking that next time the wrapping of parcels is necessitated, he'll simply ask the ever fragrant Alice to assist, with her feminine wiles and natural nails, perhaps she'll be more successful ...... plus, he'll be much more decerning in the tissue paper selection department, lesson learned, no waxy finish ....... poor, old, ever patient Darrell!

Oh, dear. I'm sure Alice will be able to help.
Alternatively, maybe Eric can find one of those tape dispensing thingies at a charity shop.
