Slow News Day

From this post I think you'll quickly realise that we're having something of a slow news day chez Le Towers ...........

...... in that the most exciting thing we have to bring you today is the appearance  of a new sign on our site!

To wit, we have got a "muster station" in the event of any unfortunate situation requiring the evacuation of our building,
should the alarms go off (not including, we hope, when Eric, formally known as Nigel, accidently burns his toast!)

We don't know who or when it was put it up, only that Eric
noticed it last night after returning from the school run.

We're also not sure whether, now it's in situ, we will be required to partake in mandatory practice drills throughout the year forthwith .........

......... however as and when we find out, you'll be the very first to know ........

In Mexico, we have earthquake drills, including a major one every 19th September. There was a huge earthquake on this day, in 1985.

"On September 19, 1985, at 7:18 in the morning, the residents of Mexico City were jolted awake by an 8.1-magnitude earthquake, one of the strongest to ever hit the area."

"The death toll, a number which is disputed, is most often cited to be 10,000 people, but many agree that the number could be as high as 40,000."

Coincidentally, there was a scary one on the same day, 19th September 2017. It was difficult to walk, when it hit.

"The earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.1, toppled dozens of buildings and damaged hundreds more. At least 326 people died, including 187 in Mexico City."

The Richter scale (not of noms) is logarithmic, which, as Mum will tell you, means that the 1985 one was ten times as powerful.

Nothing wrong with familiarising yourself with safety precautions plus we now know. If there’s a test then I hope they choose a fine day.
