Eric was just leaving for the school run .......
...... when he was greeted by the most wonderous and magical sight, glinting in the autumnal sunlight .......
....... a spider had anchored it's web from the top of a Yopa saleboard, down to the pivet hedge, creating an enchanted tightrope .......
....... and then spun an equally beautiful web, (but not so beautiful and enchanting to a passing fly perhaps) just above said hedge.
Eric was totally overcome and rendered speechless (for once), as he gazed at it in all its splendid magnificence, such a tiny creature, yet such an epic endeavour. Sad but true, we tend to treat spiders and their webs with fear and repulsion, screaming out in horror if one dares to seek shelter in the bathroom or cussing a cobweb as we waft a feather duster in the corner of a room, I can name Darrell for one!
However, in this case, the little fella was in total awe at this glorious and magical feat.

Superb. They look very special, when they have a bit of morning dew on them, too.
Some spider silk is stronger than steel by weight!
