Welcome To The Turl Street Mitre

Well Darrell, has once more has 'dun gud' with his hotel booking ........

...... as we find ourselves staying at The Turl Street Mitre, up yet another impossibly romantic in the very beating heart of Oxford  ........

...... with our room directly above The Oxford Wine Company Shop. It all feels sooooooo sophisticated, although in term time, our room is part of Lincoln College and actually real life student accommodation!

You enter through a wonderful gated arched passage way..........

...... to be welcomed by the full and impossibly romantic splendour of the 17th century .........

Let's just say we were all left stunned!  Goodness only knows what our beloved, late, great Derek Acorah (RIP) would make of it all.  If ever there was a place ripe for a good haunting it has to be this one!

Although we aren't in one of the really, really old rooms, we are honoured to have been put in P137, The David Badenoch Room, who, from Darrell's research is a former student who is now a renowned urologist in Harley Street, perhaps not the most romantic of vocations, but nevertheless if you've got a problem with your waterworks or manly bits etc, he's your man and we are in his room!

The towels within are lovely and fluffy and accompanied by an ample selection of complementary bathroom products.

We have our own shower room with lovely sparkly surfaces, but it's just across the landing, so we have to remember to ALWAYS take the key card with us, lest we should be locked out with only a towel to hid our modesty (although we doubt Mr Badenoch would give us a second glance, as he's no doubt seen it all a million times before, up close and personal).

We've also got a fridge, a fan, a marble fireplace, a desk and more than enough plug sockets but we can't help wonder, when the students return, whose room it will be .......

...... and what thick, educational tomes will be filling its ample shelvage.

The vista from above the aforementioned Wine Shop is beautiful, no cars but with lots of tourists taking pictures ........ we are currently feeling very blessed in a Hello Magazine type way ......... happy days!
