Nigel Ponders ........

How, Nigel pondered when he got home from his morning constitutional, do you get a job scaling tall poles for most of the day?

It must be soooooooo romantic, as well as unbelievably rufty tufty, looking down on the world from such a lofty juncture doing things with wires ......

........ with a van full of robustly, manly tools and equipment, an impressive extending ladder, a folding safety barrier, while donned in a fluorescent jacket, hard hat and, no doubt, crampons, knowing you are fixing mystical things of a communication type nature for the town, perhaps even nation, the little fella swooned.

The only thing he had was his orange hard hat and fluorescent waistcoat from the time when we worked at the Girls High School while the new science block was being built, but he still remembered how he felt walking round in them, even though, at the time, he was working as Condiment Control in the kitchen.

Heady, heady, faraway days, that seem a lifetime ago now, he sighed, but there's no harm in dreaming  that he might, one day, have reason to wear them again..........

It’s always good to have dreams and the number of workmen we have currently in Southport doing various activities-Nigel may have been taken on as an apprentice.

An observant young Nige would be good at any job he does, hi-viz or no hi-viz. JantheFan x
