As you know we are particularly fond of Milky Bar chocolate, so when Darrell spotted these Milky Bar raspberry ripple ice cream buttons in Home Bargains at a bargain price of 49p, well, it would have been rude not to make a considered purchase.
As we opened the packet the first thing that hit us was the overwhelming smell of raspberry, it was strong.
This was followed, on delving into the packet, by their appearance which was generous in size but looked more half pink and half white as opposed to a true rippled effect (like the real ice cream), if you know what we mean?
But how did they taste? The raspberry was unmissable, but sadly totally overpowered the more familiar and unique flavour of our beloved white chocolate, which was disappointing to say the least.
However, most strikingly, although we are quite well known for our incredibly sweet tooth, these buttons were even tooooooooooooo insanely sweet for us and then left a lingering raspberry aftertaste.
It was very quickly all agreed that we really didn't like them, something, it has to be said, of a very rare occurrence a review, in fact, we still have most of the bag left, again almost unheard of a confectionary type nature Chez Towers. Perhaps this too was the reason why they had been so drastically reduced from £1.40 (Ocado) to 49p for a share bag, as they haven't proved that popular with other consumers. ........
For these reasons, we feel we can only give one ice cream cone out of a full box of ten, minus the ice cream van to said buttons on our world famous Richter Scale of Noms.
They promised much but only left us craving something savoury to wash all the sweetness away, quelle dommage as they say en Francais!

Never mind. At least you tried. And you have saved others from making the same mistake.
".......our beloved white chocolate." Not, to me, I'm afraid.
I've never been a fan of white chocolate. Give me Cadbury's Dairy Milk, or Bournville, but nothing from the Milky Bar Kid, thank you very much.
You have definitely saved me from looking for these as I love milky bar buttons. Out Home Bargains has been closed for refurbishing for 2 months- it’s taken over another unit next door so they’ve knocked through. It’s allegedly going to have a garden centre & a cafe!
Michele
Mr D, I'll kindly eat ALL of your white chocolate allowance and more! But think I'll stay clear of the Milky Bar Raspberry Ripple effect Ice Cream drops. I'm an original Milky Bar kiddo. But one has to try out these things 'new' to the market so to speak.
Oh Michele - I'm liking the idea of your new Home Bargains - with garden centre AND a cafe. I'm a wee bit jealous me thinks! JantheFan X
