Nigel Embraces The Pleasures Of The Captains Quarters .......

Nigel said he had a "heavy night" last night ........

...... something, to be honest, I didn't think you could actually have in Disney!

However, as The Captains Quarters is an exclusive facility open to all Compass Club guests .......

....... the little fella reasoned, it would be rude not to avail oneself of it's hospitality ......

..... as it seems he did, not just once .......

...... but twice, (of the blonde and brunette type variety..... he thinks!????) ............

..... helped along nicely with a couple of packs of complimentary nuts!

After all the tension and rigours of the park rides, with their accompanying queues and milling crowds, Nigel announced that he now feeling quite chilled, mellow and all fuzzy feeling, to be honest, I'm can't really be that surprised!

Then, what was more, he was then heading in the direction of Compass Club Lounge ......

...... for a cheeky, little hot chocolate, with all the trimmings, night cap. I believe he slept well, dropping off so quickly in fact that he missed the nightly drone display from his window before turning in, although he'd seen it every night before! What is he like?

Another Day in The Park Followed By Another Posh Dinner ........

Last night, Nigel tells us, toute la famille dined a la carte Italian at The Manhattan restaurant in The New York Hotel, it was, he sighed, very posh, very posh indeed.

With the little fella sat sitting directly underneath a most mahoooooosive and beautiful chandelier, inspired, he believes by Asgar, the realm from whence the Marvel hero Thor came from (no, not us either, Mr D?) 

If even one, single, pointy piece of crystal had come loose, Nigel said he would have almost certainly met his untimely demise not unlike a skewered sausage.

The salt and pepper pots were equally as romantic too, reminding Nigel of our trip to New York a few years ago, with him almost wishing he'd bought back a set, as a much longer lasting souvenir than his waving cat from China Town, that never gave so much as a wave once he'd got it back home!

As for the food, well, the little fella had to admit he didn't have a clue what he was ordering, as he's very much a stranger to the Italian language), so when it arrived it was all a bit of a mystery ......... and perhaps, just perhaps .......

 ..... without being rude, not exactly to his taste ...... especially the Mozella, which he said he had to try to swallow in whole pieces, rather like a bush tucker trail, as the texture was just not for him.

However, with little ones watching his every move, Uncle Nigel had to be seen as diving in and fully embracing the experience, even the pansy on his pudding! 

Meanwhile ..... Back at Home

While Nigel is away embracing the pleasures of foreign Disneyesque type climes, life continues, as per usual Chez Towers, however ......... 

..... it has to be said, not without a certain amount of unfettered disgruntlement.

Now, when Darrell put his online shop together, even I know he was most particular in  ordering ready to eat bananas, as he had banana custard (with warm, melted chocolate buttons on the top), firmly in mind for our pudding later today. ........

..... but, when said bananas arrived this morning, as you can see, they were far from the promised  "ripe and ready", making Darrell a not very happy bunny! 

And, as such, he has assured me, in no uncertain terms, that questions will indeed be asked in Parliament .......

...... and, in the meantime, we'll just have to make do with cling peaches and evaporated milk for pudding instead! 

As for his carefully considered weekly menu planner? Well that, he says, is right up the swanny now, hence the need for not just one but a whole slew of questions to be asked! What is he like?

Nigel Embraces A Complimentary Or Two ........

Nigel has said that the beauty of getting his much appreciated Disney room upgrade is that he now has a bathroom of his very own, so there's no waiting for someone else to have their shower first etc. ...............

....... plus there are a lot more complimentaries to go around, with the potential of a few extra "presents" to bring back home for Darrell and I to experience just a tiny taste of the Disney hotel experience for ourselves.  So far, he says, he's already secreted a wooden razor, sewing kit, toothbrush and toothpaste, a soap, two pairs of slippers and a comb in his suitcase, what on earth is he like?

He is, however, using his exclusive "mouse eared" bath products, hoping one or two might just get replenished before the end of his stay.  He says he's always wondered what it was like to smell like Mickey (or even, perhaps Minnie) and he reports that he is indeed very fragrant and his hair at its most luxurious ...... and if his hand luggage permits, he'll do his best to plunder bring back a couple of bottles for Darrell, Alice and I to try, as well as decorate our bathroom!

He's also, he tells us, got a hairdryer, an iron, ironing board, mini fridge and safe, as well as the (before mentioned) kettle and coffee maker, but naturally and after we've warned him, these must stay exactly where they are, as if he would!!!!! 

However, I believe he now has designs on a new bed when he comes home. In Disney, he tells us, a king size bed is the king, even if he does occassionally get lost in his!

Comestible Rewards Of A Disney Afternoon

Following a crammed and exhaustive morning in the park .......... 

..... while taking full advantage of every single second of the Disney Magic Hours .....

 

....... and embracing all the wonders that are Disney .......

..... Nigel tells us that the family then heads back to their hotel to "chillax", with a cheeky swim being order of the day   .......

.....followed by a spot of afternoon tea in their exclusive Compass Club Lounge .......  

........ it's a hard knock life for some! 

It's also where Nigel can never be sure which Disney character or image will appear resplendent upon the froth on his latte or cappuccino.

At the moment, he says, he's holding out, fingers crossed, for Donald Duck before they finally have to leave, what is he like?

As for the comestibles, well, it would be rude not too sample a little bit of everything, as it would  look remiss to let anything to go stale. 

That, according to the little fella, would be quite irresponsible, so firsts, seconds and thirds are usually order of the day, but making sure, of course, to leave just a little space for his evening meal later on ......... 

As for his very favourite treat?  It has to be, he's told us, the pink marshmallow cake pops, which he says are an absolute triumph, his current record being six at one sitting, but if there's only one left, he would of course leave it for someone else ...... until, that is, they bring out another tray, heaven help us!

It's A Small World

Nigel says he's been clocking up the rides in Disneyland .........

....... but as he's living for the moment and not through a screen, he's afraid his pictures are few and far between.

However, he says it doesn't help that you have to leap in and out of rides like a young, spritely gazelle when your spaceship/carriage/Dumbo/horse arrives, thus bringing the risk of getting your camera strap unseemingly tangled in all manner of handlebars etc. in your haste and excitement to get on ..........

...... coupled with the fact that a lot of the rides are also in the dark and where the little fella isn't entirely comfortable when using his flash facility!

To be honest, as long as Nigel is "living his dream", Darrell and I are more than happy, as we know the memories will always be in his head and when he gets back home he'll describe everything in his own inimitable style, in such vivid detail,  we won't need hundreds and hundreds of pictures or videos that always seem to include the back of some strangers head or voice anyway!

He say's it just too magical for words and a veritable feast for the eyes and child life heart and soul ......

........ however, it does come with a slight risk, the song, he says, can stay in your brain for hours after you come out, and then, when you think it's finally gone, it will creep back in again at the least unexpected times and linger!  What is he like? 

Nigel is very taken and not a little emotional over The Compass Club "turn down service" he gets when he returns to his room of an evening .......

He says it's like a wonderful cross between the Tooth Fairy and Father Christmas for holidays!

It seems, that every night, before he gets in from the park and his evening meal, someone steals into his room and mysteriously leaves is a small pile of chocolate coins and a story card on his bedside table ........ 

He says he's eaten quite a few of said coins, but will bring a few back for Darrell and I to try ............

He has also hinted that this would be a very much appreciated gesture to find on his pillow when he gets back home after a particularly arduous school run ......... what is he like? However, Darrell thought it might be something we could certainly adopt for I & B sleepovers, making sure, of course, that the little fella was included in the shenanigans too!  

Goodness only knows what other Disney innovations an impressionable Nigel will come up with upon his return, Heaven help us all!
