Confession Time .......... Eurovision 2025

Today, if you weren't already privy, the UK is revealing our entry for this years Eurovision Song Contest ...... however, despite the occasion, I am afraid we have to be robustly honest with you ...... (deep breath), we were not really sure how we are feeling about Eurovision this year, something, as you know, that has always been our televisual highlight of our year.

We think the malaise set in back in 2023 (in Liverpool) when we were absolutely gutted that Finland didn't win. It just seemed to be a big fix to get the competition back to Sweden.  The audience, as well as all of us, was sooooooo behind Cha Cha Cha, and then Kaarija was robbed by Loreen (to wit, Sweden), with conspiracy theories running amok ever since.

Then,
we have a confession ....... last year when Kata, our lovely neighbour from across the hallway, knocked on our door and asked if we wanted to go down to the park to see if we could see the aura borealis, there was no hesitation, coats were donned and we left Sweden to it, not once, but twice! We just didn't care who won, because, it seemed to be a forgone conclusion that Switzerland (Big Bird) was going to win!

So, when it was announced a couple of weeks ago that "Remember Monday" ....... (..... exactly! Who?) were representing the UK, we couldn't build up enough  enthusiasm to bring you the news.

But there's more,
when Darrell checked our calendar, you won't believe it, we're already booked to see Chris McCausland on the night (winner of Strictly 2024) at The Regal in Evesham! We've only ever been Eurovisionley double booked once before and that was years and years ago, back at Castle Greysquirrel, so what can I say?

It seems the stars have all aligned and this year who knows what our televisual highlight is going to be, but it certainly looks like it won't be Eurovision, however, as we still hold our national duty dear, we will review the UK's entry for you on Monday, after we get wind of it later on today.  What are we like?

People and passions change, in life. And I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time watching that strict person in the local theatre, instead.
