We've always been very curious about the stretch of wasteland along our road ........
...... so, when we asked a couple of local, born and bred friends about it, they held us in thrall with their memories of the open air swimming pool that used to be there.
They must have been wonderful, heady times, but sadly, the pool fell into disrepair, was abandoned and eventually filled in.
And that's not all! We've also learned that the Lock House, currently under renovation (https://eveshamlock.uk/) was featured on 90's children's TV programme Rosie and Jim ....... perhaps questions should be asked in Parliament for the pool to be resurrected, as it would only be a short walk to the Lock House (see below), thus creating two, close by tourist attractions ....... instead of the housing that's been bandied about ever since we moved to The Towers.

Well done investigating and finding out about it. Some interesting photos, too.
A new pool? That would be great. You'd never get Nigel out of it. He'd need an annual pool pass and he'd permanently have pruney fingertips,
Oh boyz I know how you feel. Where we live now, the village had a swimming pool in the park. I used to go to it when I was small and took my young son to it too.....but alas it is no more....so sad. I have such happy memories of it. As the song goes, Fings aint what they used to be...

Ah boyz, outdoor swimming pools are like village trains, a distant memory that I still wish we had too. As a teenager I remember going to Southport open air pool with my friends, and in the 60’s and 70’s there was a fantastic open air pppl in St Anne’s….we live here now, and it’s long since been filled in by the council and replaced with an ugly concrete block. We used to holiday here and we always had a day at the pool, whatever the weather! Our towels either dried us or we’re wrapped around us to keep us warm!! I think we were made of hardier stuff in those days!!! It would be marvellous if we could have them all back wouldn’t it xx
